MOMBASA GATECITY MASTER PLAN - FIRST STAKEHOLDERS WORKSHOP
Mombasa County is crafting a new plan to deal with traffic congestion, poor drainage and other challenges affecting residents and businesses.
The Mombasa Gate City Master Plan is expected to replace a 1971 city design that was poorly implemented, causing disorganized development by public and private sector investors. Seven technical groups will hold a series of meetings with the Japan International Corporation Agency JICA, which is developing the plan in consultation with other experts.
Deputy Governor Hazel Katana says the county will consult with interested groups including residents in coming up with the plan. The plan will have maps that will take into consideration social services such as water supply, houses, sewerage, roads, among other developments. The project is expected to be ready in December next year.
